Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

SpicySEARCH is a Chrome extension, which offers to enhance the users' online and searching experience by giving them access to a feature-rich new tab page, as well as a more powerful search aggregator that can provide them with extensive search results. While this might sound promising, you should keep in mind that the SpicySEARCH add-on is marked as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by major names in the cybersecurity sector. PUPs are not unsafe at all and, in fact, they may sometimes give users access to useful features. However, the thing that PUPs like SpicySEARCH have in common is that they also may become the reason for undesired side effects that many users are likely to want to avoid. In the case of SpicySEARCH, the users might experience a sudden change to their Web browser's new tab page and default search service provider. While this change is not harmful, many users are likely to consider it unwelcome since it will have an impact on their Web browsing experience and habits, as well as on the quality of the search results they see.
The specific changes that SpicySEARCH brings are:
- Sets the default new tab page to hxxps://spicystart.com/.
- Sets the default search aggregator to http://status77.ampxsearch.com/.
The default search engine might be linked to an alternative browser add-on called 'Status77 Search,' but we don't have information whether it is related to SpicySEARCH's publisher or not. Since this extension is not unsafe and some users might find its features useful, we don't think that its removal is mandatory. However, if you are not pleased with the quality of the SpicySEARCH's features, then it is recommended to proceed with this extension's removal. You can accomplish this task by either uninstalling SpicySEARCH from the browser's settings manually or by using a suitable PC security tool to remove this Potentially Unwanted Program.
