StandardBoost

StandardBoost is a piece of macOS software that may end up running on your computer even though you do not recall downloading or installing it. Usually, users install StandardBoost by accident when they come across a low-quality software bundle that offers to install 3rd-party tools like StandardBoost. If users are not paying enough attention to the instructions on their screens, they may authorize StandardBoost's installation unknowingly However, software bundling is not the only trick used to spread this Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) – it also may be promoted through advertisements, fake downloads, deceptive messages and other shady content.

The good news is that StandardBoost does not have the ability to cause any harm to the computers it runs on. Its true purpose is to run in the background and silently manipulate the behavior of Web browsers running on the computer. It abuses its power to redirect the user to 3rd-party sites regularly – often, these are low-quality search engines, which may hinder the user's ability to search the Web.

While it is often possible to remove PUPs manually, StandardBoost is one of the exceptions. Since it plants its components in hidden folders all over the hard drive, it may be impossible to identify and remove its files manually. Thankfully, you can automate the task by using an up-to-date macOS security scanner that will ensure the full removal of StandardBoost.
