Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Steep TV is a Potentially Unwanted Program that may use your browser to load additional advertising content, including pop-up windows or even non-graphical advertisements. Even though this PUP isn't intentionally harmful to your PC, Steep TV may cause some security issues incidentally such as preventing you from controlling the type of content your browser loads. Removing Steep TV during anti-adware scans provided by your security software is the most responsible reaction for the average PC owner, regardless of your feelings about Steep TV.
When the Channel Changes without You
Although some PC users may think of adware as being visually intrusive products that are equivalent to toolbars, not all adware may be identified by making external browser changes. Steep TV is adware that may maintain itself as a background memory process, or a continuous process without any visible signs of a new program or extension being open. Since Steep TV may be installed by bundling itself with other freeware, casual PC users may not be aware of its presence until after its symptoms appear.
Steep TV, like any adware, may fund itself by forcing the PC user to view Web advertisements that may or may not be applicable or safe. Common symptoms seen with Steep TV installations may include audio or video advertisements that play automatically, although you also may experience injected hyperlinks, pop-ups or other issues. Although Steep TV is a brand of Oaklane Media, it can't be found at the official steep.tv website. The company has made no official statements regarding this adware.
When isolated from its adware, the Steep TV website is a video-on-demand service specializing in news, particularly celebrity news, and has no known connections to PC threats. Although PC users shouldn't consider visiting steep.tv to be threatening, isolating and removing delivery services for unwanted browser advertising always is a security concern worthy of addressing.
Pulling Your Browser out of a Steep Adware Problem
Steep TV Ads may not have a direct affiliation with the company responsible for its advertisement content, and could just as easily be being maintained and distributed by third parties interested in advertisement traffic revenue. After taking these factors into account, malware researchers estimate that Steep TV Ads is being circulated through third-party free software sites. However, the possibility of Steep TV being installed by Trojan downloaders and other threats never should be dismissed out of hand.
Since Steep TV may launch as an automatic background process, PC users trying to remove Steep TV advertisements should, first, prevent Steep TV from starting. Rebooting your computer and using one of several Safe Mode options will block most unwanted programs and some threatening software on a temporary basis. Once you've blocked potentially interfering software, you can scan your PC with anti-adware products you find trustworthy and remove Steep TV without needing to make any additional browser changes.
Although malware experts only verified Steep TV making use of the Chrome browser, other browsers may, in theory, be exploited for similar advertising-delivery purposes with a minimum of changes.
