Online scams come in all shapes and forms, and they do not always aim to steal sensitive data from you. Often, these scams are pretty harmless, but falling for them may have some annoying consequences that you will have to deal with. An example of a harmless online scam to gain popularity over the past year is the one found on Sterringfeatur.club – this Web page is being promoted via online ads and pop-ups, and it contains a false message, which urges visitors to click 'Allow' to confirm that they are not a robot. While this might sound like a legitimate prompt, you can rest assured that following Sterringfeatur.club's instructions is a bad idea – the website is not home to a valid 'robot check' and, instead, it wants you to click 'Allow' so that it will be given permission to use your Web browser's notifications.

Once Sterringfeatur.club manages to trick a user into clicking 'Allow,' it may immediately begin to deliver regular notifications to their Web browser. Needless to say, the Sterringfeatur.club will not use the browser's notifications to provide relevant content and, instead, it will abuse this feature to display paid ads.

Disabling unwanted browser notifications is strongly recommended - you can do this manually via your Web browser's 'Site Settings' menu.
