The StreamJunkie Search is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), which claims to give users the ability to quickly find the best online streaming content – videos, audio, movies, TV series, etc. However, the application does not do just this, and users who opt to install it may realize that its installation may bring other unwanted changes to their browser's settings. Currently, the publishers of the StreamJunkie Search have only released a version for Google Chrome so that users of other Web browsing clients are unlikely to be bothered by the StreamJunkie Search.

When the StreamJunkie Search is installed, it will modify the new tab page so that users will be brought to a 3rd-party search engine. Initiating a search from the new tab page will redirect the user through Searchalgo.com and eanswers.com before taking them to a Yahoo Search results page. The first two domains belong to 3rd-party search engines, which appear to be linked to a fairly large number of (PUPs), mostly ones published by Medianetnow.com.

We mentioned that the StreamJunkie Search helps users find online streaming content, and we should confirm that the utility does indeed do this. However, all the content it promotes is listed on the new tab page, and it is not hosted by a service affiliated with the StreamJunkie Search. Instead, it simply links users to 3rd-party websites and services that specialize in the distribution of streaming content. The same pages can be accessed without installing 3rd-party PUPs like the StreamJunkie Search.

The removal of the StreamJunkie Search is not an urgent task, but it will be required if you wish to undo the changes that this program may have brought. The removal of the StreamJunkie Search can be performed with the help of Chrome's extension manager, or by using a credible anti-malware tool.
