Surfkeepit Ads

Surfkeepit is a shopping adware add-on for Firefox, Internet Explorer and, with especial frequency, Chrome. Like most adware programs, Surfkeepit makes changes to your browser to load third-party content that is of questionable benefit to its audience, despite marketing itself as a shopping assistant. For the sake of your browser's security, malware researchers advise uninstalling Surfkeepit ads, ideally with security tools that are capable of fighting adware and other PUPs of a similar nature.

Why Shopping Online Turns into Watching Affiliate Advertising

Although it takes little talent to design a typical adware product, persuading your users from uninstalling your program immediately often is more troublesome than developing it, in the first place. Surfkeepit has taken a similar role as other shopping-themed adware programs, such as CheapMe or DigiCoupon, by claiming that its advertisements benefit its users with new offers for prices and products that are competitive with ones already being viewed in your browser.

Although there is some theoretical advantage to such advertisements, in practical reality, malware experts find that the usefulness of Surfkeepit's advertisements pale in comparison to the proper use of standard search engines. For now, Surfkeepit's advertisements are not rated as threatening to your computer. In spite of that, adware networks rarely are monitored carefully for security breaches, and allowing Surfkeepit ads to stay on your browser in the long term is not encouraged. Long term contact with these advertisements may result in your PC being attacked by online misleading tactics or even attempts to install threats by any of several methods (such as fake software patches). Additionally, Surfkeepit also may interfere with the underlying format and readability of various websites, hijack advertisement content or cause other Web-browsing issues that, ultimately, degrade your online experience.

Keeping Your Web-Surfing Free of Surfkeepit

Surfkeepit often is seen in the Chrome Web browser but also is compatible with other, equally popular Windows browsers. No matter which browser Surfkeepit modifies, Surfkeepit typically will try to stop its easy removal, and malware experts encourage using specialized anti-adware programs to overcome this obstacle. Although not rated as a threat, Surfkeepit is a Potentially Unwanted Program, and, like most PUPs, tends to make changes to your PC that are counter-intuitive to remove by hand.

Surfkeepit's website, Surfkeepit.info, currently has lapsed in ownership. However, that does not necessarily indicate that Surfkeepit no longer is being distributed, and most adware programs don't rely on their Web domains as their primary methods for installation. Be mindful of freeware sites that could bundle Surfkeepit with their installers, and use standard PC security products to make sure that anything you install doesn't have the extra 'gift' of advertisements along with it.
