Teracreative Ads

Teracreative is a browser hijacker that redirects your browser to sub-domains of Teracreative.com, which currently falls under the classification of an unsafe website. Teracreative's redirects may occur throughout multiple types of Web browsers, using different means, such as custom extensions or Browser Helper Objects (BHOs). Minimize any unneeded contact with any Web content promoted by this threat, and delete Teracreative with the same PC security software you would use for dealing with any unwanted or hostile software.

The Suspicious Creativity of Web Admins in Getting Their Traffic

Conducting cost-effective marketing and promotional campaigns to get traffic to one's website requires a degree of marketing savvy and real content creation that many Web entrepreneurs lack. Some website owners may choose to overcome this problem by using software that forces traffic directly to their sites. In many cases, the result is being redirected to nothing more harmful than a portal domain for a search engine, but in others, like the Teracreative campaign, your browser risks loading harmful content.

Teracreative installs itself through unknown means, sometimes while also bundles with other, low-level threats, such as the DNS Unlocker adware. In addition to the injected browser advertisements and pop-ups that are typical of such threats, Teracreative may redirect your browser to its website. Redirects trigger automatically, and without being tied to any attempt to hijack the browser's homepage or search engine settings. Malware experts see no browser-specific dependencies in Teracreative, which may affect several browsers simultaneously.

The Teracreative's website, Teracreative.com, has a minimal history of hosting threatening content but may be tied to network communications from threats like Neshta, a virus that may collect system and e-mail client information. Most content generation and C&C functions related to this site may use a variety of sub-domains, such as 555.teracreative.com or Clicks.teracreative.com. Redirects to this site caused by Teracreative may focus on promoting advertising affiliates and other, third-party content, not all of which may be safe for your PC.

Telling Teracreative's Endless Number of Domains to Take a Number

The Teracreative hijacking campaign is a clear demonstration of how seemingly non-threatening sites may have transparent histories of profiting from threats. It also shows that even software that isn't a visible presence on your PC as a product may have a significant influence on how other applications behave. Since Teracreative shows no independent memory processes or clearly-labeled program files, manual identification of all of its components may not be accomplished by most PC users. Default Teracreative installations also may include additional Registry changes which, if not properly removed, may cause issues with other programs, up to and including your operating system.

As noted earlier, Teracreative includes components for multiple browsers, as well as some browser-independent content. Malware experts recommend that you use full system-scanning options from your available anti-malware tools for deleting Teracreative and all file changes originating from this threat. Once you remove Teracreative, you also may need to erase each browser's cache and settings individually, to remove any final traces of unwanted symptoms.

Although they're less blatantly threatening than a banking Trojan or a file encryptor, browser hijackers may be common instigators of a range of serious security issues. Always react to attacks like Teracreative's redirects in as quick a time frame as possible, and the rest of your PC will be all the safer for it.
