The Test My Speeds is simply a rebranded version of the My Speedtest XP. Both of these programs are classified as Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) by major names in the computer security industry, and users who have this software on their computers might be slightly bothered by some of the actions these applications may perform. The Test My Speeds software also belongs to the publisher Eightpoint Technologies Ltd, and it claims to provide users with a neat way to test their Internet speed and connection quickly to see if it is performing as expected. Although this service may seem helpful, our readers should be aware that there are hundreds of free websites that offer the same service without asking visitors to install a 3rd-party program. In short, this makes the Test My Speeds obsolete since users can take advantage of the same features without bloating their computers with unnecessary software.

The Test My Speeds does not use a custom Internet speed test and, instead, it provides users with this feature by modifying their new tab page to search.testmyspeeds.co, a search engine that delivers results via the Yahoo's search engine. Apart from the search field, Search.testmyspeeds.co also features a speed test button hosted by Openspeedtest.com – a legitimate and free service, which can replace all of the Test My Speeds' 'features.'

The removal of the Test My Speeds is not mandatory, but there's no valid reason to keep this software, considering that it has nothing of value to offer. The only notable difference it may introduce is negative, because it modifies the Chrome's default new tab page to 'Search.testmyspeeds.co,' therefore forcing the users to use the services of a search engine they are probably not familiar with. Users who wish to dispose of this PUP can do so by uninstalling it manually or using a suitable anti-virus program.
