Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

The Todays News Reporter is a browser extension developed and distributed by Polarity Technologies LTD. It has an official website, which offers to install this software by promising to provide computer users with access to the latest news articles and instant updates regarding any important news that has happened in the last minutes. Some users might find this offer attractive, but they should know that reputable news agencies already have software that serves the same purpose and comes from a more reliable source. In addition to being more reliable, official extensions will not ask to modify the browser's settings – a thing that the Todays News Reporter does. Users who attempt to install the Todays News Reporter might be unhappy to find out that they need to authorize the add-on to change their default new tab page.
Once the Todays News Reporter is installed, it will set the browser's default new tab page as hxxp://search.searchtodaynr.com/. This search engine is rather simple, and its URL shows that it is related to the Todays News Reporter extension directly. Although we don't advise our readers to trust 3rd-party search engines with non-existent reputation, this one appears to be safe since it does not host any other content apart from the search field and a sponsored YouTube video. The hxxp://search.searchtodaynr.com's services deliver results from the Yahoo Search so that it is safe to say that users will be taken to a safe website.
The Todays News Reporter is identified as a Potentially Unwanted Program PUP), and users who wish to get rid of it have two options ahead of them. They can use a credible anti-malware tool to deal with the issue, or they can attempt to remove it manually by using their browser's settings panel.
