The Toss Carnival is a potentially unsafe Google Chrome extension offered by surt.me, which is capable of changing the settings of the default search engine and displaying advertisements and pop-ups on any sites visited by the users. The Toss Carnival Game Chrome extension gets promoted through the use of a corrupted JavaScript code from surt.me, one that forces the users to install the extension. The result of that is that the browser may be redirected to surt.me from adult entertainment sites, crack or keygen sites as well.

The surt.me website runs a JavaScript that shows a dialog box, telling users they have to 'Add Toss Carnival Game.' Clicking on the cancel button once will change it to add a tickbox that gives the option to prevent the page from creating additional dialogs. Once that is done, the tab will go into full-screen mode, and the user will be prompted to install the Toss Carnival Game extension. The ID of the extension is bbjnbbkmmlfamopoapkcbhknhjolebll.

Typical signs of the presence of Toss Carnival Game can be recognized by the following:

  • Advertisement banners getting injected into Web pages.
  • Browser search queries been tracked and redirected.
  • Random text gets turned into hyperlinks.
  • The browser homepage and the default search engine may be changed as well.
