Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Totopweb.com is a low-quality website cluttered with hundreds of quick links to various pages, news articles, games, and content that may not be relevant to the interests of all visitors. While some of the websites promoted via Totopweb.com are legitimate, there is also a fair number of not that popular Web destinations, which may be associated with Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) or other suspicious software and content that should be avoided. Apart from the collection of links and articles, Totopweb.com also features a neat search field that just redirects the user's searches through Google.com, so it is safe to say that this is at least one of Totopweb.com's features that work well.
So why would be paying so much attention to this page if there wasn't something fishy about it? The thing is that the page itself is not that suspicious, but a significant fraction of the users that visit it on a regular basis may be brought there with the help of small pieces of software that are identified as browser hijackers. There might be more than one variant of the Totopweb.com browser hijacker, and the authors may rely on different methods to propagate these annoying little applications.
When a browser hijacker is introduced to a computer, it executes its one sole purpose – to set the Web browser's settings to specific values. In this case, the settings are modified so that users will be redirected to Totopweb.com whenever they try to access their homepages or open a new tab. The good news is that experiencing this does not put your online safety in harm's way. However, it goes without saying that this change is undesired in 99% of cases, and the software responsible for it should be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Since the Totopweb.com browser hijacker may use different names, it is recommended to let a reputable anti-malware application take care of its removal.
