Tracker Packages New Tab

Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs), also known as Potentially Unwanted Applications/apps (PUAs) have existed for a very long time, and don't show any sign of going away any time soon. They are in the crosshairs rarely, as they occupy the grey area between legitimate programs and malware. While the way PUPs are spread is often reminiscent of that used by malware distribution, and the effects that they may produce don't benefit the end user usually, they are not all that damaging to the user's system – which is why it is difficult to classify them as a real threat. What PUPs are, for the most part, is annoying – and the Tracker Packages Browser Hijacker is no exception to this rule.

The Tracker Packages Browser Hijacker is just one of many browser hijackers that can plug themselves onto a user's device and start messing with their browsing experience. As the name indicates, this particular PUP does very little besides changing the default way in which a browser operates, by redirecting all queries through a fake search engine named search.searchgtp2[.]com. While the Tracker Packages Browser Hijacker is on a system, it makes all searches intended to Chrome and Firefox go through that particular 'Search Engine,' which can be rather vexing. What's worse is the fact that all browsing done though it provides its creators with information on the user – browsing habits etc. While none of what the Tracker Packages Browser Hijacker is outright threatening to the user's system, it does infringe on the user's activities and overall privacy – which is why the users should take steps to eradicate the issue.

Fortunately, unlike 'true' malware, PUPs aren't that difficult to get rid of. Security experts recommend that any user that wishes to do so manually just follow these simple steps - go to the 'Control Panel,' then go to 'Add or Remove Programs,' then scroll down to 'other search,' select it and click 'Uninstall.
