Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Troj/Agent-XDD is a Trojan that distributes itself through spam e-mail messages that pretend that Troj/Agent-XDD is benign content – in this specific case, by portraying Troj/Agent-XDD as a printer-scanned image. Although Troj/Agent-XDD's business-oriented hoax is a more believable hook than the spam hoaxed used by similar PC threats like Mal/ExpJS-AA, Win32/Cbeplay.P, Win32.Worm.Mytob.C@mm, Trojan.Win32.Buzus.cyms, Cridex-B or Troj/JSRedir-EX, the consequences are just as negative for your computer either way. Attacks by Troj/Agent-XDD have a high probability of installing other PC threats, reducing your computer's security or enabling theft of confidential information, and SpywareRemove.com malware experts encourage all e-mail users to familiarize themselves with Troj/Agent-XDD's e-mail template so that Troj/Agent-XDD can be deleted on sight.
Troj/Agent-XDD: When Trusting What Your 'Printer' Sends You Can Get You Into Hot Water
Troj/Agent-XDD is a recently-identified (as of July 24th) Trojan that uses e-mail as its choice of transportation from one computer to the next one. Spam e-mail messages with Troj/Agent-XDD file attachments will portray themselves either as work-related documents that were sent by a coworker or automated messages from your business's local printer/fax machine. Troj/Agent-XDD's e-mail headers include fake printing project numbers and may even include fake 'reply' or 'forwarded' tags. Likewise, the bodies of Troj/Agent-XDD's spam messages will include several fields that elaborate on the supposed Word document that's attached (for example, by noting page length and the version of Word that's used). Of course, these file attachments aren't Word documents at all, although SpywareRemove.com malware researchers warn that Troj/Agent-XDD may be inaccurately-named to appear like a Word document (with the .doc file type) despite its true nature as an executable.
At the time of this writing, only Windows PCs have been confirmed to be affected by Troj/Agent-XDD, which may also be detected by the alias Gen:Heur.Zygug.3. Recognizing and deleting Troj/Agent-XDD-carrying e-mails as soon as you see them should always be considered the simplest way to avoid a possible Troj/Agent-XDD infection, although you also may wish to scan file attachments as a matter of course to verify their safety before you open them. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers also note that any anti-malware software must be up-to-date to have a reasonable chance of detecting Troj/Agent-XDD non-heuristically, since Troj/Agent-XDD is a recently-identified PC threat.
The Meaning Behind Troj/Agent-XDD's Fake Printer Job
Because Troj/Agent-XDD's current e-mail template uses a hoax that's geared specifically to attack businesses, SpywareRemove.com malware research team recommends that you take the possibility of theft of workplace-related information into account in any Troj/Agent-XDD infection. A full analysis of Troj/Agent-XDD's payload remains forthcoming, but PC threats that are similar to Troj/Agent-XDD have also been noted for:
- Disabling security-related programs (Task Manager, Windows Firewall, et cetera).
- Altering the system Registry as a means of disabling security features (such as protection against files with improper signature validation).
- Installing other PC threats onto your hard drive without your permission.
- Opening a backdoor vulnerability that allows criminals to access your computer through remote servers.
SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend removing Troj/Agent-XDD with anti-malware products that can also detect any related PC threats that may be included in Troj/Agent-XDD's installation or be installed by Troj/Agent-XDD.
