Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F is a Trojan downloader that usually is installed by other malware and will, itself, seek to install additional types of malicious software onto your computer. Since Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F possesses some fairly in-depth defenses that would prevent Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F from being found through any casual inspection of your PC, alerts by relevant anti-malware products usually will be your only symptoms of a Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F infection. Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F should be considered roughly equivalent in terms of danger and sophisticated to a boot-loading rootkit (sometimes called a 'bootkit'), and SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend nothing less than appropriate potent anti-malware tools for detecting or removing Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F or any other malware associated with a Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F infection.
Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F: the Trojan that Digs Down Deeper than Your OS
Rather than being something that you'd download deliberately, Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F usually is installed by other Trojans, particularly TrojanDropper:Win32/Rovnix.I, a specialized Trojan dropper for downloading and installing Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F, and then enabling Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F to launch automatically. Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F compromises the PC's Volume Boot Record or VBR to bypass basic 64-bit signature-based security features for Windows, afterward launching a malicious driver component automatically. Since Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F injects its code into explorer.exe (a normal part of Windows), SpywareRemove.com malware experts find that there aren't any easy ways to detect Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F – unless you make a habit of closely monitoring how much memory your basic system processes use.
While these essentially passive defenses prevent you from seeing Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F by eye, Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F also includes some defenses against anti-malware detection. If the VBR is accessed while Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F is operational, Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F temporarily restores a backup of the original VBR. Naturally, this VBR will not detect as infected, and once the access routine is completed, the infected VBR will be put back into place.
Attending to the Downloading Ghost in Your Machine
Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F is of most concern to SpywareRemove.com malware analysts for its ability to install other malware arbitrarily and more or less indefinitely. Configuration instructions received by Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F from remote servers can allow Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F to install a variable number and type of other PC threats, including rootkits, spyware, banking Trojans, browser hijackers or adware. With this primary risk at the forefront of any Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F infection, an appropriate and quick response to Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F is crucial for preserving the safety of your PC and any information transferred through it.
Because of Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F's sophisticated installation and launch routine, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend loading a separate OS from a flash drive before you try to remove Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F. With an uninfected OS loaded, you can use any anti-malware software of your preference to delete Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F without any hindrances.
Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F and its Trojan dropper are specific to Windows, and currently do not affect Mac OS X or other popular operating systems. However, as mentioned earlier, Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F does include functions for bypassing many of the security features in 64-bit Windows PCs, and having a new version of Windows shouldn't be thought of as a protection against Trojan:DOS/Rovnix.F attacks.
