Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Trojan.Gen.SFC is a generic detection for Trojans that haven't been identified by specific labels. As such, Trojan.Gen.SFC alerts can warn against various types of PC threats, including backdoor Trojans, banking Trojans, Trojan droppers and Trojan downloaders. Most variants of Trojan.Gen.SFC are incapable of distributing themselves without some assistance from other PC threats, but they may download and install additional threats. Because of the baseline danger that's posed by any version of Trojan.Gen.SFC, SpywareRemove.com malware research team advises the utmost caution and urgency in dealing with Trojan.Gen.SFC, which should be deleted promptly and by suitable anti-malware tools.
Trojan.Gen.SFC: a Bag of Plentiful and Unpleasant Surprises on Your Hard Drive
A heuristic detection like Trojan.Gen.SFC primarily is intended to be used for newly-developed Trojans or new variants of old Trojans that haven't been identifiable under previous malware database entries but still have distinctive malicious traits. Because Trojan.Gen.SFC covers such a wide range of different Trojan subtypes, malware researchers can't provide any specific information on definitive symptoms of a Trojan.Gen.SFC infection. However, for general reference, Trojans classified as Trojan.Gen.SFC infections often are capable of some of the following attacks:
- Creating backdoor connections to criminal-controlled remote servers, thus allowing them to download files, upload files, update themselves or receive instructions on new attacks with impunity.
- Installing additional threats. A Trojan dropper variant of Trojan.Gen.SFC may be intended to install a very specific PC threat, whereas Trojan downloader variants often are used to install a varied assortment of threats.
- Attempting to steal personal information. Account login names and passwords often are targeted through keylogging and similar attacks.
- Disabling security-oriented features or programs. Windows Defender and Task Manager often are disabled by default, and your browser's security features may be disabled through malicious Registry changes.
A Flexible Way to Fix a Generic Trojan Dilemma
Trojan.Gen.SFC alerts may pertain to both low-level PC threats, such as mere browser hijackers, and high-level ones like banking Trojans or rootkits. Because of the potential for incredibly invasive attacks on the part of Trojan.Gen.SFC, SpywareRemove.com malware experts advise no delay in removing Trojan.Gen.SFC from your computer. Anti-malware products should be able to detect Trojan.Gen.SFC's many variants through their system-scanning functions, but most Trojans identified by Trojan.Gen.SFC labels will not show visual symptoms that would let you detect them by eye.
Updating your anti-malware software on a regular basis will give you a better chance than otherwise to detect Trojans by specific names that give you a clear idea of their capabilities and possible infection methods. Trojan.Gen.SFC should be considered a last-ditch detection method and, in some cases, even may be detected as part of non-malicious programs by mistake. If you experience such an event and are certain that it's a false positive, contacting the relevant anti-malware company is strongly recommended since it will provide them with new information that they can use to reduce fake Trojan.Gen.SFC detections and improve their threat databases.
