Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD is a Trojan that targets mostly web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD spreads via malicious HTML web pages that attempt to exploit a vulnerability in an affected computer. Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD infects a victimized computer when a computer user visits a hijacked website. Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD may also be downloaded and installed on the affected computer through other malware infections. Free file-sharing programs and freeware are also used to distribute Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD to compromised machines.

Once executed, Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD downloads potentially malicious files and modifies the Windows Registry without the victim's knowledge. Since Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD hides itself on the affected computer, it might be difficult to detect and remove it with an anti-virus program. Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD redirects the hijacked Internet browser to a malicious website, which infects the vulnerable computer with other malware threats or displays advertisements. Scammers use Trojan HTML.Redirector.WD to force PC users to go to predetermined websites where scammers earn money every time PC users click on the advertisements found in the predetermined websites.
