TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E is a Trojan that redirects the compromised web browser so that when the PC user attempts to access certain websites, he/she is redirected to malicious websites that attempt to steal or 'phish' the victim's personal information. In order to execute this, TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E modifies system and browser settings that may leave the affected computer unprotected. Once installed on the compromised PC, TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E modifies the Windows Registry. TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E provides and loads a file, via a server, that may include configuration settings for Internet Explorer. TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E assures that Internet Explorer uses the HTTP 1.1 standard, possibly to assure websites that the victim is rerouted to are displayed suitably on the PC. TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E disables the option to indicate a proxy for connecting to websites via a LAN (local area network), and assures that it uses the HTTP 1.1 standard for proxy connections. TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E hides the Advanced tab in the Internet Explorer options window and disables the ability to restore your home page and search websites to their defaults. TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E presses Internet Explorer to use configuration settings provided in a file and changes settings for the Mozilla Firefox by making the modifications in the preferences file. TrojanProxy:BAT/Banker.E also deletes content in the certain folders that may be related to security settings for the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
