Trojan.Ransom.PARPE
Trojan.Ransom.PARPE is a part of a malware attack, which is used by attackers in social engineering, drive-by downloads, and extortion to reach their malicious purposes. Trojan.Ransom.PARPE propagates via a bogus YouTube website that declares to provide web users with adult videos. Computer users who visit the phony website are urged to download a Flash Player update for viewing the content. The supposed update file is an executable file that contains a genuine Flash icon, but in actuality it's a Trojan, found as Trojan.FakeFlash, which disables the Task Manager and creates registry entries to make sure it can launch automatically whenever the victim boots up the compromised PC. In addition to the fictitious Flash Player update, target computer users also get the possibility to download all the adult videos from the website. The alleged videos are in actuality .scr (screensaver) files that conceal ransomware identified as Trojan.Ransom.PARPE. If PC users strive to close the falsified YouTube website, they're blocked from doing so by simple JavaScript, which keeps the window open even if the computer user hits the 'Leave Page' button. In the meantime, while the victimized computer user is striving to close the window, an exploit added to the website is used to affect the PC with more malware infections.
