Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Trojan.Tracur.C!inf is a label for files that have been infected by Trojans from the Tracur family – a family noted for causing search engine redirects to malicious websites and installing other PC threats. Because Trojan.Tracur.C!inf is only applied to normal system files that have been compromised by Tracur Trojans, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers encourage you to disinfect such files safely with dedicated anti-malware scanners. PC threats related to Trojan.Tracur.C!inf have been verified for their compatibility with almost all versions of Windows from Windows 95 up to Windows 7, although other operating systems are, for the moment, safe from Trojan.Tracur.C!inf and other Tracur Trojan attacks. Symptoms of attacks related to Trojan.Tracur.C!inf infections are limited to unusual search engine behavior for Chrome and Firefox browsers, which may be used to expose you to malicious web content or censor PC security sites.
Trojan.Tracur.C!inf – Just a Small Part of a Grand Plan to Compromise Your PC
Trojan.Tracur.C!inf can apply to any file on your PC that's been infected by a Tracur-based Trojan. Although Tracur family Trojans lack virus-distribution functions, they have been noted to include other qualities (such as naming their components after system DLL files) that make detecting them difficult without anti-malware software. Along with numerous Registry changes and attempts at bypassing firewall security measures, PC threats related to Trojan.Tracur.C!inf can launch themselves automatically and maintain their attacks without showing many symptoms.
Attacks related to Trojan.Tracur.C!inf infections can include:
- Backdoor exploits that allow C&C servers to be used to compromise and control your computer. Other PC threats may be downloaded from these servers and installed on your PC, and personal information (bank account data, credit card numbers, e-mail account passwords, etc.) may be transferred to these servers without your permission.
- Firefox and Chrome brands of browsers are particularly vulnerable to Trojan.Tracur.C!inf-related attacks. Tracur-based Trojans will install extension components for these browsers that will redirect traffic from popular search engines to malicious IP addresses. Affected search engines that SpywareRemove.com malware analysts have noted include Google, Ask.com, Yahoo, Bing and AOL.
Why Trojan.Tracur.C!inf is of Concern for an Outdated Trojan
Although Tracur Trojans were most prominent in 2011, Trojan.Tracur.C!inf was only recently-identified by most PC security companies and may be indicative of continuing development for the Tracur family. Due to the multicomponent nature of Tracur infections, SpywareRemove.com malware experts suggest using thorough ant-malware scans to detect and remove Trojan.Tracur.C!inf and all other Tracur-related PC threats whenever it's necessary.
Web browser usage, and, in particular, usage of search engines, should be minimized until you've confirmed that Trojan.Tracur.C!inf and all other Tracur Trojans have been deleted. Contact with websites promoted by Trojan.Tracur.C!inf can result in other attacks, such as drive-by-downloads or phishing attempts to steal personal information.
