Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Troj/RuinDl-Gen is a browser hijacker and adware-based Trojan that's known to cause browser redirects and pop-ups – among other potential attacks. An initial infection by Troj/RuinDl-Gen can be identified as soon as you open your web browser, since Troj/RuinDl-Gen typically will display 'Recommended for You' Pop-ups that minimize into the corresponding tag line of their name if you attempt to close them. In addition to the advertisement content that Troj/RuinDl-Gen forces your browser to display via 'Recommended for You' Pop-ups, your browser will be redirected to unusual sites without your consent, and with seemingly random triggering opportunities. Scanning your computer with anti-malware products should be considered the most surefire way of dealing with Troj/RuinDl-Gen and its advertisements, which may also include exposure to malicious content or to other attacks that depend on Troj/RuinDl-Gen's configuration instructions. Thankfully, almost any adept brand of anti-malware product should be able to delete Troj/RuinDl-Gen without any difficulties, since Troj/RuinDl-Gen was identified in 2006, giving PC security companies more than enough time to update their threat databases for Troj/RuinDl-Gen as of the time of this article's writing.
Troj/RuinDl-Gen: a pop-up-Enabler, a Browser Hijacker and Potentially More Than That
Troj/RuinDl-Gen is also identified by a number of other aliases, including Trojan.Peed.Gen, Alureon.A, W32/Zlob.B.gen!Eldorado, Win32:Trojan-gen and Win32/Alureon!generic. Because some variants of Troj/RuinDl-Gen are, in fact, identified as members of the Alueron family, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers warn you to be prepared for the possibility of data theft with any Troj/RuinDl-Gen infection. In most cases, theft of information by Alureon-based versions of Troj/RuinDl-Gen will not show obvious symptoms and will target incoming and outgoing information (such as passwords or financial information) automatically. This type of Troj/RuinDl-Gen Trojan is especially likely to include multiple components, such as other members of Alureon.
However, these attacks are, fortunately, a minority of identified Troj/RuinDl-Gen attacks, which SpywareRemove.com malware researchers have typically found to consist of pop-ups and browser hijack attacks. 'Recommended for You' Pop-ups are a major symptom of a Troj/RuinDl-Gen infection, and include two separate advertisement-based pop-ups, one of which uses an imitation iPhone template. These pop-ups will refuse to close, although they can be minimized to a relatively smaller 'Recommended for You' pop-up box, and can appear in all types of web browsers. Likewise, Troj/RuinDl-Gen can also force your web browser to load unwanted websites regardless of what type of browser you use. Triggering conditions for Troj/RuinDl-Gen's redirects appear to be semi-arbitrary and don't limit themselves to online search redirects or homepage hijacks.
How You Can Take Care of Troj/RuinDl-Gen... and Why You Should Make Haste About It
Troj/RuinDl-Gen is limited to attacking Windows-based computers, although, within those limitations, you may not see any clear signs of Troj/RuinDl-Gen's presence other than the symptoms noted earlier. SpywareRemove.com malware research team strongly suggests that you scan your computer thoroughly after you see 'Recommended for You' Pop-ups or other symptoms of Troj/RuinDl-Gen attacks, since Troj/RuinDl-Gen may be installed with other PC threats. Troj/RuinDl-Gen has been found to contact remote servers to receive information and, as a result, may alter its behavior based on new instructions.
Although Troj/RuinDl-Gen was first seen in mid-2006, its characteristic symptoms are still making the rounds as of 2012. Due to this, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers encourage you to avoid taking any potential Troj/RuinDl-Gen infection lightly, and be prepared to take any measures that are needed to ensure that you delete Troj/RuinDl-Gen safely and expediently.
