Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

TR/Small.FI is a Trojan that's often installed by rootkits and similar PC threats. Attacks that are often related to TR/Small.FI infections include negatively-modified browser settings, browser redirects, fraudulent pop-ups and system changes that allow criminal access to your computer. Most anti-malware products will detect TR/Small.FI repeatedly as a symptom of other PC infections that may or may not be exposed by themselves; accordingly, SpywareRemove.com malware research team encourages you to boot your PC via methods that can disable malicious software before you try to remove TR/Small.FI in an anti-malware scan. Deleting TR/Small.FI without deleting related PC threats is widely noted as ineffectual, since TR/Small.FI can be reinstalled immediately after its removal.
The Reason Behind a Flood of TR/Small.FI Alerts
Like other Trojans from the Small family, TR/Small.FI is most all the time included as part of a multi-component attack, particularly attacks that inject their code into normal system processes. Consequentially, TR/Small.FI is often detected as one of the most easily-detected parts of, for example, a rootkit infection that also compromises various parts of your operating system. Anti-malware programs may notify you about TR/Small.FI attacks very frequently while these other PC threats are active-in-memory, even though you may not perceive symptoms of TR/Small.FI if you lack anti-malware protection.
The presence of TR/Small.FI is often noted in conjunction with browser redirects, unwanted pop-ups and altered Registry settings that make your PC more vulnerable than normal to other attacks. While TR/Small.FI is only a moderate danger to your PC, TR/Small.FI is also very likely to be accompanied by other types of malicious software that are even more dangerous than itself. Since your PC can have its security extremely compromised during the course of a typical TR/Small.FI-related attack, SpywareRemove.com malware analysts encourage you to remove TR/Small.FI and related malware as quickly as you're able.
Why You Will Not Get Rid of TR/Small.FI without Kicking Out Its Friends, Too
TR/Small.FI is often reinstalled or maintained by related PC threats, including rootkits that don't display independent files. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers encourage you to try to disable all PC threats before attempting to remove TR/Small.FI or any other harmful software, which can be done by booting in Safe Mode or by booting from a network-accessible/removable hard drive. Your Windows Registry is also likely to be altered and should be either restored from a backup, reinstalled or disinfected by a suitable security program.
Some PC threats that SpywareRemove.com malware researchers have found to be particularly associated with TR/Small.FI include:
- Virus:HTML/Virut.BH
- Tr/Atraps.Gen
- Tr/Atraps.Gen2. Trojans from the Atraps family are often linked to backdoor attacks that allow C&C servers to control your computer (frequently to install other PC threats or steal private information).
- TR/Sirefef. Sirefef-based Trojans are well-known for their promotion of scamware programs that display inaccurate security alerts and scan results.
