ULTIM Security

Posted: July 19, 2011

ULTIM SecurityULTIM Security is a fake anti-virus program with false positives and inaccurate system information instead of real security features. Like most rogue anti-virus products, ULTIM Security makes it appear as though your PC is heavily-infected prior to offering to fix this fake emergency if you'll purchase ULTIM Security's full version. SpywareRemove.com malware research team cautions against this, however, since ULTIM Security is completely incapable of fixing any virus-related PC problems and is affiliated with criminals with a history of credit card fraud. The safest way to deal with ULTIM Security is to delete ULTIM Security with a real security program, although ULTIM Security may do its best to prevent you from accessing such software.

The Many Ways ULTIM Security Falls Short of Being the Ultimate Anything

Unusual name aside, there's nothing nonstandard about ULTIM Security, which is a straight clone of other rogue anti-virus programs from the same subgroup. ULTIM Security uses system scans with fake, infection-stuffed results, as well as a variety of fake pop-up alerts, to confuse you about the health of your PC. Although these errors may look realistic, SpywareRemove.com malware analysts have found no indication that ULTIM Security can detect or remove viruses or other PC threats, and purchasing ULTIM Security should be considered equivalent to giving your money to criminals.

ULTIM Security and similar rogue anti-virus applications may also attempt to prevent you from using real anti-virus software to remove ULTIM Security and related infections. Even though this software barricade can involve additional infection warnings, these warnings are just as false as the earlier ones and should be wholly discounted. ULTIM Security will try to avoid being disabled and will launch without your consent, so as to give itself a high-priority position from which to control which applications you can access.

You should be equally wary of ULTIM Security's various clones within the same rogue AV program family, which include a fake Windows Defender, Ultim Block, Ultimate Defender, Antivirus Edition and Eclipse Antivirus. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers have found these ULTIM Security clones to be identical to ULTIM Security in every meaningful way, including their malicious behavior.

Paying Attention to PC Security to Keep ULTIM Security Out

ULTIM Security can be installed by fake online scanners and fake web browser updates for popular browsers such as Mozilla and Firefox. In all cases, obvious installation procedures will (deceitfully) inform you that your PC is infected and request that you install security software, which will turn out to be ULTIM Security or one of its clones. Look out for fake errors similar to this example below, which has been linked to the ULTIM Security family of rogue anti-virus products:

"[Rogue security program name] Firewall Alert! – Scanning of your system is currently on, please waiting until the end. Your system affected by numerous virus attacks, [Rogue security program name] Firewall Alert recommends you to install proper software to protect your computer?"

You may also contract an ULTIM Security infection after visiting the ULTIM Security website, ultimsecurity.com, which may forcibly install ULTIM Security via Flash and Java-based browser exploits. Similar websites that market related rogue security programs, such as Ultimblock.com, Antivirusedition.com and Defenderunlimited.com are equivalently dangerous to your PC.
