ViewPDF
ViewPDF is a browser add-on available for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. According to the extension's official website (found at Viewpdf.io), its purpose is to provide users with access to a neat search engine that can help them look for PDF files exclusively. This may sound like a handy tool if you want to find some textbooks or research papers, but we assure you that ViewPDF is not necessary if you want to search for PDF files – popular search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo already support this feature via the 'Advanced Search Options.' Another reason why the installation of ViewPDF is not recommended is that it may bring undesired changes to your Web browser's settings.
Users who install ViewPDF may soon notice that their default search aggregator has been replaced by Pdfsrch.com, an unknown search engine associated with ViewPDF's publishers. While using this search engine is not a major issue, you should know that it may display inaccurate search results, as well as prioritize sponsored search results.
ViewPDF is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), so removing it is recommended, but not mandatory. If you wish to get rid of the ViewPDF PUP and the changes it made to your Web browser, we advise you to do so with the help of a suitable PC security utility.
