Vkernel.org Screenshot 1Vkernel.org is a fraudulent website that tries to propagate PC threats under the guise of presenting them in the form of updates for your web browser. Because SpywareRemove.com malware researchers have found that Vkernel.org may use drive-by-download attacks to install Trojans or other PC threats even if you don't interact with Vkernel.org in any significant way, you should treat any visit to Vkernel.org as exposure to a potential infection that's already happened. As always, it's recommended that you only install browser updates from reputable sites and avoid placing any trust in unusual update alerts from sites that you don't recognize. Redirects to Vkernel.org can be caused by browser-hijacking advertisements that are able to afflict all types of web browsers, although Vkernel.org itself uses a format that's reminiscent of the Mozilla brand. Regardless of the circumstances of your exposure to Vkernel.org, you should scan your PC with high-quality anti-malware software to remove any Trojans or other PC threats that may have been installed by Vkernel.org.

Vkernel.org – a Danger to Mozilla and Everything Else That's On Your PC

From a cursory glance, Vkernel.org may appear to be an update site for Mozilla Firefox-brand web browsers, but Vkernel.org isn't affiliated with any sort of reputable PC company or product, and multiple names in PC security have confirmed that Vkernel.org distributes malicious software under fraudulent pretenses. Vkernel.org uses the following error message to make you think that you should install its 'update' for your web browser, but Vkernel.org has no ability to detect outdated web browsers and will present this warning even if your browser is totally up-to-date:

Attention! Your browser is out of date. We recommend to update it. The new browser version will protect your computer from different internet-dangers and make it safer.

Attention! Your browser version is old. You need to urgently renew your browser.

At the time of this writing, Vkernel.org uses this attack to install Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT (also known as Trojan:Win32/Delf.GL) and Popclick.A. The former of these two PC threats can be considered particularly invasive, as SpywareRemove.com malware researchers have noted that Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT has been known to delete cookies as a method of stealing passwords (by forcing you to re-enter passwords for various websites). In some cases, this Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT may also be disguised as an internet chat program by the name of QIP 2005.

When an Ad Leads You Straight to Vkernel.org

Although, like many types of malicious sites, Vkernel.org uses browser hijackers to force browsers to load its content, the method by which Vkernel.org manages this isn't through typical browser-hijacking Trojans, rootkits or even BHOs. Instead, SpywareRemove.com malware analysts have found that most Vkernel.org redirects are a result of third-party advertisements that are loaded on otherwise harmless websites. Firefox and Internet Explorer have been reported as making redirects to Vkernel.org, and it can be prevented if you use a comprehensive advertisement blocker for your browser of choice.

However, if you do find that your browser is loading Vkernel.org against your will, it's strongly recommended that you treat your PC as potentially infected by high-level PC threats, and react with scans from suitable anti-malware products. As noted above, failure to do this may result in theft of personal information or other attacks against your PC by Vkernel.org-affiliated PC threats.
