Wazzup.info

Wazzup.info Screenshot 1Wazzup.info is a search site that claims to provide information on broad interests such as credit scores, psychology or web design. However, as a clone of similar sites like Getanswers.com and Findanswersfast.com, Wazzup.info's ability to provide relevant results for your searches can be considered questionable at best. Wazzup.info, like many types of low-profile search engines, prefers to display affiliates and sponsored links instead of giving you links that are ranked according to their relevance or safety. These minor issues are further stressed by Wazzup.info's promotion by browser hijackers, which can redirect your web browser to Wazzup.info and its clone sites without your consent. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers stress that browser hijackers for Wazzup.info should always be removed a thorough scan with an anti-malware program, since browser hijacks may also be used alongside surreptitious attacks such as keylogging or the creation of backdoor security holes.

What's Really Up with Wazzup.info

Because Wazzup.info doesn't sort its results based on relevance and may not even filter out unsafe results, you should consider Wazzup.info's search function to be, at best, no more worthwhile than browsing a series of third-party advertisements. In general, it's recommended that you acquire your search results from more reputable sites than Wazzup.info.

Although there's nothing that's noteworthy about Wazzup.info's search feature, Wazzup.info has managed to lay claim to infamy due to its affiliation, whether deliberate or not, with browser hijackers. Browser redirect attacks that force Wazzup.info to load should be considered symptoms of an active PC threat on your computer, and SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend an exhaustive system scan after any redirect to Wazzup.info takes place. Since browser hijackers are often capable of other functions, such as creating pop-ups, stealing passwords from your browser's cache or changing your security settings, it's also recommended that you do this ASAP rather than at your leisure, since redirects to Wazzup.info may only be the most visible of a set of multiple attacks against your PC.

Meeting the Rest of the Wazzup.info Gang

Wazzup.info is also known for using the same basic template as other sites that are used as destinations in browser redirect attacks. Findanswersfast.com and Getanswers.com are two sites that have, so far, been noted as being essentially identical to Wazzup.info both in looks and functionality. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend that you treat redirects to either of these sites in the same way that you'd treat a redirect to Wazzup.info.

Because browser hijackers for Wazzup.info and similar sites have been linked to variants of the TDSS Rootkit (AKA Win32/Alureon), you should also be aware of the possibility of other attacks that may be going on behind the scenes, while you're distracting by Wazzup.info redirects:

  • The installation of fake anti-malware programs that use inaccurate alerts, pop-ups and scans to encourage you to spend money on their valueless security features.
  • Search results that are modified to present affiliates of Wazzup.info or other types of irrelevant (and potentially harmful) content.
  • Arbitrary pop-ups and other forms of illegitimate advertisements.
