Weather Forecaster

Weather Forecaster is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), which is often installed as an attachment to two of the most popular Web browsers – Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. As the name of the add-on suggests, it is meant to provide its users with reliable data and updates regarding the current weather conditions, as well as the weather forecast for the next few days or weeks. However, the data that the Weather Forecaster add-on uses is public, and it can be accessed without using a 3rd-party extension like this one.

Another issue that users of the Weather Forecaster add-on may notice is that it displays the weather data by forcing them to use an alternative website as their default new tab page. Users who have the Weather Forecaster installed on their computer may be referred to Search.weatherforecastertab.com every time a new tab is loaded. This change is not unsafe, but it might be inconvenient since users will have to adapt to an unknown search page.

In addition to the changes to the new tab settings, the Weather Forecaster add-on also may replace the default search aggregator with Query.weatherforecastertab.com. This means that whenever the user initiates a search through their address bar, the query will be run through Query.weatherforecastertab.com instead of their preferred search engine.

The changes that the Weather Forecaster applies are considered to be undesired, and users who are not happy with this extension should make sure to remove it immediately. They can do this manually or with the use of a security tool that is capable of eradicating Potentially Unwanted Programs.
