Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Windows Microsoft Guardian is another rogue security program that's installed in the form of a payload from the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert Trojan. This Trojan will attempt to convince you that Windows Microsoft Guardian is a genuine security product, but Windows Microsoft Guardian has none of the threat-combating functions that Windows Microsoft Guardian pretends to use. The mere presence of Windows Microsoft Guardian on your PC may result in difficulty using unrelated applications, particularly your web browser. You should avoid giving away your credit card information or money to the people pushing the Windows Microsoft Guardian scam and, instead, delete Windows Microsoft Guardian with an actual anti-virus program.
Windows Microsoft Guardian: Abusing a Known Brand Name for False Threat Warnings
Windows Microsoft Guardian combines the usage of both the Windows logo and the Microsoft brand name to create a security program that looks relatively legitimate. In addition to pretending to monitor your PC for threats, Windows Microsoft Guardian will also create a scoring system for different parts of your computer's security. However, these scores are predetermined, and their low percentiles don't indicate that your computer actually has poor security.
At first, the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert Trojan will try to infect your PC without being detected, typically by using drive-by download scripts on websites or advertisements. Once Fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert is on your PC, you'll see error messages that imply that additional security software needs to be installed. Unlike a real message from Windows or Microsoft, Fake Microsoft Essentials Security Alert will not specify what the extra software is, because the Trojan may install one of many different threats.

Guarding Yourself Against Windows Microsoft Guardian-Related Perils
Along with Windows Microsoft Guardian's annoying but relatively harmless fake error messages, Windows Microsoft Guardian may also cause problems in your application usage:
- Windows Microsoft Guardian can blacklist programs to prevent you from using them. Baseline Windows tools like Task Manager or well-known security brand programs may be blocked. Ignore any errors from Windows Microsoft Guardian that tell you that these programs are infected; this is a simple misdirection tactic to stop you from suspecting Windows Microsoft Guardian.
- Windows Microsoft Guardian may also allow your web browser to run for the purpose of hijacking it. Hijacks typically redirect you to malicious websites and can change your homepage or search results to do so. A secondary use for a hijack is to prevent you from visiting websites that contain PC security information; be suspicious about any unusual error screens that block a website that you know is safe.
