Worm.Arcdoor

Posted: February 25, 2016

Worm.Arcdoor is a stealthy threat that may replicate itself automatically and cause system damage. These parasites are very threatening because they may copy your account credentials or files while staying hidden. The infection may occur due to system vulnerabilities or drive-by downloads. For example, you may install Worm.Arcdoor assuming that it is an update to Java or Adobe. If your PC is already infected with some other cyber threat, the download of this threat may happen automatically. Although the processes of Worm.Arcdoor happen in the background, you may still encounter some issues. This parasite may take the necessary steps to be running at all times. Worm.Arcdoor may modify the Windows registries and block some defensive features like the Windows Firewall or the Automatic updates. Since Windows Registries are an extremely sensitive area of the Operating System (OS), any mistake there may lead to performance problems. Just like many other worms, this one tries to establish a connection towards distant hosts that serve as Command and Control (C&C) servers. The hackers may use them to send instructions to their harmful program. They may download additional threatening applications for more precise operations. Ultimately, all of your files, account usernames and passwords may be at risk. Very often the incoming and outgoing Internet traffic is substantial so that you may notice a sudden and unexplainable drop in the surfing speed. If you experience anything abnormal, or you have downloaded suspicious software recently, it is advisable to perform a diagnostic test with an advanced security program to make sure Worm.Arcdoor isn't there.
