Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk

Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk is a worm, which circulates in the form of a shortcut and appears to be a legitimate file. Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk attempts to attract an affected computer user into opening a malicious file. If the targeted PC user opens the infected file, a malware threat, detected as Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk, is downloaded and installed on the vulnerable computer system. Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk is installed on the corrupted PC by other variants of the Proslikefan family of worms, such as Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!E. Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk can change the victimized PC user's system settings and disable anti-virus and security programs. Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk alters all shortcut files that are located on the desktop so that when the computer user opens the shortcut, a copy of Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk will run, as well as the original program. PC users may hardly notice the modification since the shortcut will still execute its original function. For example, if the shortcut is suppose to start Notepad, it will first launch a copy of Worm:JS/Proslikefan.gen!lnk and then run Notepad.
