Cybercriminals experiment with all kinds of subjects when it comes to sending out phishing emails that contain a corrupted attachment. Often, they rely on fake documents related to work, government institutions, of banking details. A new tactic appears to focus on the popularity of cryptocurrency – the 'Your purchase of BTC has started' Email Virus informs recipients that a Bitcoin purchase worth approximately $1,000 has been completed through their account and that they can find additional information in the email attachment. Of course, seeing that you have somehow spent $1,000 may be a shock, and many users might not think twice about reviewing the attached file. However, this email is fake, and the file attachment contains a corrupted macro script that is designed to deploy the Gozi Trojan on vulnerable systems. The counsel is that you should be very careful about incoming messages that claim to contain data about a Bitcoin purchase because the Gozi Trojan is being spread via such messages currently.

If you see the 'Your purchase of BTC has started' Email Virus in your inbox, then we advise you to delete it, and not to interact with any of its contents. If you suspect that you might have downloaded and viewed an email attachment from a suspicious email, then you should run an anti-malware application to check your system for problems.
