bank card cloning hackersReaders of Softpedia have shared a particularly disturbing e-mail message with the site's security team at the end of last week. It looks like a hacking group known as The CC Buddies has prepared and launched an upgrade to its device for credit card cloning Infusion x5 which they were selling in the middle of last summer.

The cybercriminals have clearly upgraded the capabilities of the high-tech gadget, and they are now not even bothering to hide their new offer on the dark web, performing an open marketing campaign instead.

A member of the group has sent out an e-mail to the public audience containing all the details about the criminals' latest invention – the Infusion x6. Obviously, the device is already out for sale, and it builds upon on the abilities of its precursor. The new model is now able to "capture bank cards" at a distance of up to 15 centimeters which makes it ideal for use in big crowds.

The old Infusion x5 could copy as much as 15 cards in a second, while its successor raises the bar to 21 cards per second. The hackers have worked on the design of Infusion x6 as well. The new model is much more convenient to hide under a sleeve, for example, attached to a wrist dock as it is much smaller that the previous version. In addition to that, the new device offers improved security for its owner. It has an embedded system to encrypt the data stored on the device so that if the criminals are caught, the authorities will not be able to access the data.

On their website, The CC Buddies offer three different packages whereby the basic package sells for 1.5 Bitcoins. The other two versions include either a Booster or the possibility for 100 additional cards, both having a price tag of 1.6 Bitcoins.

The new Infusion x6 is designed to collect complete sets of data about any given card, including the number and the expiration date. However, it can also copy any personal and other data stored on the radio chip that is found in contactless bank cards. The data sets are copied from the RFID chip and then sent to the internal storage of the device.

The device also comes with an USB cable that can be connected to a PC, thus all the stolen data can then be transferred from the internal storage to the Infusion x6 owner's computer. The data is in an encrypted format, yet The CC Buddies deliver with each package special software with which the data can be decrypted. To complete the offer, the cyber criminals also provide blank plastic cards as well which are as a final step used to produce the fake bank cards.
