Posted: July 11, 2008

Have you made the mistake of purchasing a fake anti-spyware program and you really want to get your money back? Many people have mistakenly purchased a rogue anti-spyware program thinking that the purchased version would remove parasites that the application found during a scan. Well my friend, your wishful thinking has got you nowhere but without your gas money for the week. There is still hope for some of us who are willing to take the necessary steps to get your money back for purchasing a useless program.

How do you get your money back if you purchased a rogue anti-spyware program online such as XP Antivirus?

You must take it up with your bank as a first and essential step. Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge or the very moment that you find the charge on your account. File a dispute or a fraudulent change dispute explaining that you discovered fraudulent activity on your account. You may have to further explain that you wish to do this in accordance with Federal Regulation E in some cases to get the ball rolling. Once you are able to file a charge you must follow-up and avoid giving-in to an answer that you do not like. Many times banks will shrug you off when a report is filed but you must not give up. Be persistent because ultimately it is YOUR money that was taken from you and all you got out the deal is a serious headache.

The truth shall set you free!

In a case such as this, telling the truth may set you free. If you are having further difficulty with your bank in getting your money back then you should tell them the truth. Explain that your account was charged an amount that was not authorized by you. In purchasing a rogue anti-spyware program from a malicious website, your account information may be obtained and used without your permission. When a company or person charges your account without delivering the goods promised then you have an honest and justifiable reason to get your money back.

If the fraudulent report was not good enough then take the next step to file a Rip-off Report. Yes, you can keep on filing reports until some action has taken place on your account by your bank. If it was a credit card that was charged (not a debit or check card) then you must contact the credit card company directly as soon as possible. In any circumstance, stay firm and do not give up. After filing many reports with your bank they will have no choice than to get other authorities and/or attorneys involved.

Have you ever requested to get your money back or filed a report with your bank because of the purchase of a rogue anti-spyware program online? Did you get your money back? Are you still in process of filing a report with your bank?

I am appalled that they get away with such fraudulence. I unfortunately did purchase Antispyware Soft Platinum. Haven't tried to get my money back yet. I'm amazed that so many people have been ripped off and continue to be. Only in America!
