Internet attack attempt detected

Posted: July 28, 2009

"Internet attack attempt detected" is a misleading security alert generated by the fake spyware remover called Windows Antivirus Pro. This fake warning notification states that your computer is under attack, and prompts you to purchase and download Windows Antivirus Pro in order to combat the threat. "Internet attack attempt detected" pop-up reads as follows:

"Internet attack attempt detected:
Somebody is trying to attack your PC:
This can result in loss of your personal information and infection other computers connected to your network.

These fake error messages will continue to bombard your PC. To avoid this, remove Windows Antivirus Pro immediately.

Start computer in safe mode and perform a system restore to a checkpoint prior to the infection. My computer struggled with this and seemed to just stop. At this point I hit the reset button to force a reboot which was successful and restored to prior infection. Everything is working fine now
