Posted: March 19, 2011

Practically the definition of a 'crooked cop' as far as software goes, Vista AdwareCops 2011 is a rogue anti-spyware program that gains the user's trust by faking helpful system scanning and security features. Vista AdwareCops 2011 lacks everything it advertises but makes up for it by trying to sell you on phony system alerts and counterfeit scanning results! Removal of Vista AdwareCops 2011 from your PC can be important to maintain system integrity, since this rogue threat may redirect your browser to dangerous websites or prevent your real security software from running appropriately.

Wandering Into This Bad Cop's Beat

Vista AdwareCops 2011 can infect your PC through trojans that are bundled with other programs or even by way of forced downloads utilized by malicious website scripts. Avoiding any contact or interaction with suspicious websites and refraining from downloading files from insecure sources like P2P networks and freeware sites will do a lot to keep your PC safe from Vista AdwareCops 2011.

If your PC gets this rogue infection, you may see Vista AdwareCops 2011 starting up with your PC even if you haven't set it to do so. This is due to Vista AdwareCops 2011 adding entries into your system Registry to sync it up with the default startup process, a dirty trick that can sometimes be worked around by using a Safe Mode-based boot.

Besides periodic scans that return faked results to terrify you, Vista AdwareCops 2011 may also show off baseless error messages like these:

Warning! Security Alert
Considerable System productivity Decline is observed.
Total System scanning is recommended to remove all all reasons of productivity decline. Options are Deny, Enable Protection.

Warning! Security Alert
Suspicious software activity is detected. Please start system files scanning for details. Options are Deny, Enable Protection.

These vague warnings aren't related to your PC's health at all; in fact, your computer's better off without Vista AdwareCops 2011 on it!

Outing the Dirty Cop

Other dangers that may be linked to Vista AdwareCops 2011 can include security programs that crash with error messages and browsers altered to use malicious proxy server settings for hijacking events. Your best chance of removing Vista AdwareCops 2011 without any problems involves preventing the rogue program from launching itself.
