Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

CoupMania is a variant of Ads By Name adware, and, like other versions of that program, may modify your browser by inserting potentially unwanted advertising. This feature isn't sufficiently threatening to warrant placing CoupMania Ads in the same classification as rogue software, but CoupMania may, nonetheless, try to install itself automatically or prevent you from removing it. Deleting CoupMania from your browser should use anti-adware solutions that are capable of scanning your computer for sensitive components, including Registry changes.
When Your Browser goes Manic with Advertisements
Although theoretically beneficial, browser extensions sometimes may be compromised by mercenary development strategies that may turn susceptible Web browsers into revenue sources without benefiting their users. Over the past year, malware experts have seen particularly high numbers of such software being developed and distributed for the Chrome browser. Most of these adware programs, such as Coupon Titan Ads, HugeApps Ads and CoupMania Ads are minor variants of Ads By Name extensions.
CoupMania and related adware add-ons may generate their revenue through forcing their users to view extra advertisements, which the extensions market as coupons, gift offers and similar shopping bargains. CoupMania injects its advertisements into your browser's Web pages while they load. These advertisements may format themselves as banners, sidebars or thumbnails, usually with text tags indicating their affiliation with CoupMania.
This form of advertising delivery could endanger your browser by exposing it to online hoaxes, attempts to collect information or marketing schemes for fraudulent software. In rare cases, malware experts may see advertisements like CoupMania Ads's own used for distributing attacks that could install hostile software automatically.
Resolving a Browser Coup by CoupMania
CoupMania shows some of the signs of having characteristics of a Potentially Unwanted Program that may try to avoid being removed from your computer, including failing to display itself in Chrome's extensions settings. Malware experts also found some cases of CoupMania reinstalling itself and forcing its advertising-friendly browser changes to remain persistent in the affected system. However, deleting CoupMania without causing any incidental harm to unrelated parts of your machine, such as your Registry settings, should be viable for any professional anti-adware program.
While malware experts have found significant information about CoupMania's underlying traits and behavior, they have yet to confirm its means of distributing and installation. Like other adware from its family, CoupMania lacks any traditional distribution campaign, such as a page on the Chrome Web Store. Previous cases of CoupMania installations are indicative of CoupMania being installed automatically, possibly via a bundle with other, free applications. PC users interested in preventing these unwanted adware installations can take several precautionary steps, including, most importantly, scanning untrustworthy files before opening them.
