DIS Ransomware
The DIS Ransomware is a newly identified file-locker that has the ability to cause long-term damage to your file system. This malware's creators' goal is to lock you out of your files and then extort you for money. Their extortion plan is to offer a decryption service, but only if the victim agrees to pay a ransom fee of a few hundred dollars. Of course, the creators of this ransomware want to be paid via Bitcoin since this ensures their anonymity and makes it impossible to cancel the transaction. You should never trust ransomware creators and paying them should be a last resort.
The DIS Ransomware may reach your system through a fake download, corrupted advertisement, or a piece of pirated software that has been laced with corrupted code. The best way to keep your system safe is to invest in a reputable anti-malware application, as well as stay away from suspicious files and websites.
The DIS Ransomware's attack will not just encrypt files, but it also will rename them by adding the extension '.id-<VICTIM ID>.[decrypt@disroot.org].dis.' The threat also spawns a ransom note titled 'FILES ENCRYPTED.txt' that contains a short message from the criminals. They urge their victim to contact them via decrypt@disroot.org and promise to help them if they agree to pay a ransom fee.
Victims of the DIS Ransomware should run an anti-malware scanner to dispose of the threatening program and then explore popular data recovery tools.
