Gamersinfo.org is a Russian gaming news site that has recently enjoyed promotion by a variety of browser hijackers, which may force your Web browser to load the website automatically. Although malware researchers have not found any hazardous content hosted on Gamersinfo.org, it may have indirect ties with Web-based attack scripts, expose you to misleading tactics or otherwise facilitate contact with online threats. You should use standard anti-malware procedures to disinfect any browsers redirecting you to Gamersinfo.org, and should avoid transferring information to this website's administrators or affiliates, in the meantime.

The Information that Gamersinfo.org doesn't Tell You

Gamersinfo.org provides gaming industry articles in formats heavily reminiscent of similar domains previously involved in browser-associated attacks, such as Gamezdoka.org or Gameharbor.org. In these latter cases, just as with Gamersinfo.org, most attacks limit themselves to initial browser hijackings that redirected the victim to the website by default. Browser hijackers for Gamersinfo.org and related sites typically limit their redirects to modifying your homepage, search engine or other 'starting page' settings.

Malware experts have seen separate Gamersinfo.org hijackings affecting both Firefox and Chrome, opening up the possibility of more than one PC threat being involved in this campaign. As per the norm for a browser hijacker, the PC user's default browsing settings are ignored, and changes to them will not block any future redirects to Gamersinfo.org.

The majority of PC security institutions classify Gamersinfo.org as safe or a merely 'suspicious' domain. At this date, malware experts have yet to trace any attacks or other, directly toxic content to Gamersinfo.org. However, Gamersinfo.org may be a host or promoter of online tactics, phishing attacks and other hazards that don't involve providing threat-derived content on its own. As usual, browsing articles from Gamersinfo.org, Gamezdoka.org or other sites with similarly poor histories is undertaken at your personal risk and discretion.

Pulling out of the Gamersinfo.org Game

Gamersinfo.org-specialized browser hijackers were first widely reported late in 2014, making a probable case for their replacing old browser hijackers for previous sites. While most victims of Gamersinfo.org redirects don't report of having installed any new software immediately before the attacks, malware researchers have connected some of these incidents to the presence of threats with threat-downloading capabilities. Trojan downloaders and Trojan droppers may disguise themselves as legitimate installers for unrelated programs or may be installed automatically through the vulnerabilities predominantly found on outdated software.

Gamersinfo.org hijackers also have some minor associations with another low-level threat: adware. Many adware programs may provide additional advertisements as highly visible symptoms and hold the classification of Potentially Unwanted Programs. Letting your browser display extra advertisements from unconfirmed sources are just as much of a security hazard as letting it redirect to an unconfirmed website. In either case, the prompt use of anti-malware and anti-adware tools should be taken for granted as the safest solution.
