Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

The Mefeedia Toolbar is a Potentially Unwanted Program that modifies your browser to redirect you to Mefeedia.com, a general consolidation portal for streaming movies. This site includes no noticeable unsafe content, but malware researchers do warn that browser add-ons with habits of altering your browser's behavior may be security or performance hazards. As with other toolbars that redirect you to sites that aren't hostile but may be unwanted, you should consider with care whether a Mefeedia Toolbar is worth keeping around, and use suitable security software to uninstall the Mefeedia Toolbar if you decide the Mefeedia Toolbar is not worth the price the Mefeedia Toolbar asks of you.
How Your Browser Gets Force-Fed a New Website
The Mefeedia Toolbar is a browser add-on noted for its predictable promotion of the Mefeedia.com site by changes to your browser's homepage. Malware experts only have confirmed the distribution of the Mefeedia Toolbar to Chrome browsers, but other major brands of Windows browsers also may be influenced by this add-on. Like similar website-promoting extensions, the Mefeedia Toolbar changes your browser to redirect you to Mefeedia.com no matter what your original homepage settings might say, and don't allow you to disable this function without removing the Mefeedia Toolbar in its entirety.
Because Mefeedia.com and its toolbar are advertisement-financed, the Mefeedia Toolbar periodically may inject advertisements into your browser or redirect you to third party offers. Although these advertisements aren't necessarily harmful or fraudulent, malware researchers always find it wise to be cautious about advertisement networks without solid reputations for security. Such networks may be a source of exposure to fake software updates, rogue system scanners, phishing attacks and other PC threats that are designed to mislead and confuse their victims.
On the other hand, the Mefeedia.com site only is a source of consolidating other reputable movie sites, and, judging Mefeedia.com by its baseline movie content, Mefeedia.com is no more threatening than Hulu, Vevo or other sites through which Mefeedia.com pulls its movie links.
Giving Your Browser the Right Sites to Dine Upon
The Mefeedia Toolbar only endangers your browser in the sense that the Mefeedia Toolbar prevents you from choosing your own Web destinations and ignores any default browser settings you may be using already. Like other PUPs, a judgment call is required as to whether or not it's worthwhile to keep a Mefeedia Toolbar installed – but malware experts tend to recommend deleting them whenever there's any doubt whatsoever. Most Potentially Unwanted Programs that indulge in browser-hijacking behavior will not remove all of their effects during uninstallation, but deleting a Mefeedia Toolbar with anti-malware software can overcome this inconvenience.
Malware researchers have not seen any current evidence of non-consensual installation methods used to distribute the Mefeedia Toolbar to new users. In most cases, the presence of the Mefeedia Toolbar may be due to the direct actions of the relevant PC user. However, software bundles may obscure the fact that they're installing the Mefeedia Toolbar or other add-ons until after the fact, which is a problem that may be avoided with a thorough examination of all features and offers made during the original installation process.
