Networklock Ransomware

Posted: March 17, 2021

Networklock is a new and dangerous file-encryption Trojan whose creators are extorting their victims for money. The criminals ask for payment via Bitcoin, and they promise to give out a decryption utility as soon as the payment is received. We assure you that trusting the creators of the Networklock Ransomware is a terrible idea – sending them money is unlikely to end well, and you will probably have your money stolen. Our advice to users affected by the Networklock Ransomware attack is to dispose of the threat with the use of an anti-malware application, and then look for other reputable data recovery measures and software.

The Networklock Ransomware is spread online via various methods – it may hide in a pirated piece of media or software, you may come across it via deceptive advertisements that lead to fake downloads. Since dangerous software like this may attack from anywhere, it is best to defend yourself from it by using an up-to-date antivirus tool at all times. In addition to this, you may want to consider maintaining up-to-date backups of your files.

When the Networklock Ransomware damages your files, it will add the '.networklock' extension to their name. It also drops the ransom message called 'Recovery_Instructions.html.' According to the latter document, victims have 72 hours to contact the attackers by emailing dec-helper@dremno.com or dec_helper@excic.com. The criminals also offer to unlock 2-3 files for free – make use of this offer by sending the files to the aforementioned email addresses. However, do not consider paying them for the full decryption service – if they receive any money, they may end up trying to extort you for another payment. Instead, follow the removal and recovery instructions in the first paragraph.
