Home Malware Programs Browser Hijackers Officialsurvey.org

Officialsurvey.org

Posted: July 16, 2013

Officialsurvey.org is a site that, true to its domain name, displays surveys in your browser. When navigated to directly, Officialsurvey.org does not display any content – leading SpywareRemove.com malware experts to suspect that Officialsurvey.org's primary purpose actually is to display its surveys through the Officialsurvey.org-based adware and pop-up attacks that have been recurring in 2013. Although Officialsurvey.org is not an infection vector and does not, at this time, have confirmation as a source of phishing attacks, you always should be reasonably careful around online surveys from unusual sources. Of course, adware and other PC threats that display pop-up surveys from Officialsurvey.org always should be considered a threat, and appropriate anti-malware programs should be used to remove the source of Officialsurvey.org pop-up attacks as soon as possible after they're identified.

Why Officialsurvey.org isn't as Official as It Would Like You to Believe

Officialsurvey.org displays surveys that, on first glance, may seem to have content that's associated with the websites that you're browsing at the time of these surveys' appearances. However, a close inspection will show that Officialsurvey.org's content is completely unaffiliated with websites you're browsing – instead, the adware that displays Officialsurvey.org surveys simply monitors your Web-browsing activities for the sake of selecting 'relevant' survey content. Officialsurvey.org surveys have not been found to display in any cases other than those of an adware infection and, in fact, don't appear at all if you navigate to the site directly.

Adware programs that create Officialsurvey.org pop-ups do not have any associations with specific types of browser add-ons, toolbars, plugins or extensions. Rather, they're installed automatically through disingenuous methods that don't show any visible software for you to disable or uninstall. Officialsurvey.org adware attacks also can affect most types of browsers and are not specific to Internet Explorer or other browser brands.

Giving Officialsurvey.org the Official Boot Out of Your Browser

Since unwanted pop-ups are potential security hazards, and since Officialsurvey.org pop-up attacks also may cause significant browser performance issues, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend removing Officialsurvey.org adware immediately. Trustworthy anti-malware programs should be used to make sure that all components are deleted, as well as that all related PC threats (such as Trojans like Zlob that often install adware and other types of malware) are uninstalled. Officialsurvey.org adware and similar browser-based malware usually will create settings changes that may reduce the security of your Web browser, such as circumventing the pop-up blocker or disabling warnings about unsafe downloads.

Current analyses of Officialsurvey.org haven't found any evidence of Officialsurvey.org's content including phishing attacks, drive-by-downloads or other online PC threats. However, giving information to surveys from sources as disreputable as Officialsurvey.org usually is inadvisable, and SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend using all of the normal browser security strategies while experiencing any contact with Officialsurvey.org (or any similar survey sites of a suspicious nature).
