Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

OpenLyrics is adware that provides lyrics look-up support for browser-based streaming music videos and supports that feature by displaying additional advertisements. Since OpenLyrics's advertisement-based browser changes may harm the performance or even the safety of your Web browser, malware researchers would consider deleting OpenLyrics a good idea, albeit not an utterly mandatory one. OpenLyrics and other forms of adware rarely finish uninstalling all components and settings changes that they caused in the first place, which makes including anti-malware tools in the uninstall efforts a similarly sensible action.
The Add-On that Opens Your Browser to a World of Advertisements
With a business strategy very similar to that of other adware products like LyricsPal, Lyrics Party or Adware.LyricsKid, OpenLyrics does nothing to set itself apart from other lyrics-themed browser add-ons with a prominent interest in getting new traffic for advertisements. Although OpenLyrics's lyric-display feature is, as far as malware experts may determine, entirely legitimate, OpenLyrics also is coupled with undesirable advertising functions that have the potential to harm your PC. If you've already installed OpenLyrics through a software bundle or other means, you'll have to form your own opinion as to whether its advertisements outweigh its beneficial functions.
Advertising functions often related to OpenLyrics and similar adware products may include a colorful parcel of changes to your browser, with major symptoms such as:
- Using the text content of unrelated Web pages to display hyperlinks to third parties.
- Injecting banner advertisements into unrelated Web pages.
- Loading pop-up or pop-under windows.
Since OpenLyrics isn't likely to practice any kind of rigorous safety-checking for its advertising partners, you interact with any OpenLyrics advertisements at your own risk. Malware experts often associate such advertisement networks with risky attacks, including fake software updates and fake surveys that collect your personal information.
Closing the Case on the OpenLyrics Issue
In addition to all of the safety problems with allowing OpenLyrics to load advertisements automatically, OpenLyrics also may be a source of browser instability and related issues, particular for PCs with limited hardware resources. OpenLyrics shouldn't be treated as a high-level threat to your computer, but malware researchers do find it best to remove OpenLyrics, in general, no matter how OpenLyrics originally was installed.
Installation methods for OpenLyrics haven't finished being analyzed, but are anticipated to include a heavy use of software bundles that install OpenLyrics when you try to download an unrelated application. Sites with poor histories for monitoring their file downloads are particularly common sources for these adware bundles, as are download sources associated with software piracy (such as torrents). Even if you find it impractical to avoid a potentially risky download source, scanning an installer with anti-malware tools can let you detect a bundler before OpenLyrics's installation can take you by surprise.
