POLICJA!!! Ransomware
The POLICJA!!! Ransomware is a file-locker whose authors have used a significant portion of the code seen in the Jigsaw Ransomware project. This is good news because it might mean that the POLICJA!!! Ransomware is decryptable, and its victims will not need to contact the attackers to receive a decryption software or instructions on how to use it. Regardless of this, messing with the POLICJA!!! Ransomware is still guaranteed to be a bad experience since this file-encryption Trojan needs just a few minutes to encrypt thousands of images, documents, archives and other valuable files. Whenever a file is encrypted, the POLICJA!!! Ransomware will modify its name by appending the '.##___POLICJA!!!___TEN_PLIK_ZOSTA' extension. The language used in both the unique file extension and the ransom note is in Polish so that it is safe to assume that most of this ransomware's victims will be Polish users. However, it would not be something unexpected if the POLICJA!!! Ransomware reaches victims in other countries as well accidentally.
When the attack is complete, the POLICJA!!! Ransomware spawns a new command prompt window, which contains a Polish ransom note that lies to users by telling them that their files were encrypted by a cybersecurity agency and they need to pay a fee to resolve the issue. In addition to this fake information, the ransomware note also might accuse the victim of participating in shady online activities and communities.
Users whose PCs were compromised by the POLICJA!!! Ransomware should disregard the instructions of the attackers completely, and dispose of the threat with the help of a trustworthy anti-malware tool. After this task is complete, it is time to download and run the free Jigsaw Ransomware decryptor that should be able to help recover the encrypted files.
