ProduceStyle is a rogue Mac application, categorized as adware. One of its features is to deliver various undesirable and potentially harmful advertisements through intrusive campaigns. Since most users download and install this application unknowingly, it also is categorized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP). Furthermore, ProduceStyle possesses browser hijacking traits, such as modifying browser settings and promoting fake search engines.

Rogue Mac applications such as ProduceStyle are often distributed through free software installers, torrent downloads, deceptive pop-ups and fake Flash Players Installers. Symptoms of an infection include unwanted pop-ups, redirects to bogus websites and hindered performance of your Mac.

Adware applications such as ProduceStyle can cause a lot of annoyances with their constant banners, pop-ups, coupons, surveys, and other intrusive advertisements on any website you visit. Such advertisements not only clutter your view, but also slow down your browsing speed. Once the users open such advertisements, they might be redirected to corrupted websites that can download more unsafe software on their system.

The browser hijacking capabilities of ProduceStyle allow it to alter the default browser search engine, new tab and homepage URLs. ProduceStyle usually redirects users to Safe Finder through akamaihd.net. These fake search engines usually can't generate any unique results on their own, so they redirect to results from legitimate search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Redirecting through browser hijackers such as ProduceStyle, ElementaryDataSearch, and Get Quick Directions also can expose a user's browsing activity. Software such as those mentioned above can usually gather IP addresses, visited pages, search queries and geolocations. This data can later be sold to third parties and potentially end up in the hands of cybercriminals, leading to privacy issues, financial losses or identity theft.
