qbtex Ransomware

Posted: May 13, 2019

The file-locker is based on the Dharma Ransomware code, and this means that it is impossible to crack its encryption without the assistance of its authors. The removal of the qbtex Ransomware is not enough to undo the damage caused by its attack due to the fact that this file-locker is able to swiftly encrypt a large portion of the user’s files, making it impossible to access their contents.

Threats like the qbtex Ransomware may often be spread via fake email attachments, but it is possible that the authors might opt for alternative propagation channels – pirated software and media, fake software updates or fake computer utilities. Once the qbtex Ransomware is launched, it may need just a few minutes to carry out its tacks and cause potentially irreversible damage to the files found on the compromised host. Whenever the qbtex Ransomware locks a file, it will mark its name with the addition of the extension ‘.id-.[1btc@decryption.biz].qbtex.’

Just like almost any other file-locker, the qbtex Ransomware also drops a ransom note to end its attack – this note contains a brief explanation of what happened to the victim’s files and instructions on how the victim should proceed if they wish to get them back. However, restoring the files locked by the qbtex Ransomware can be a difficult task due to the lack of a free decryptor – alternative data recovery options are available, but they may not work flawlessly. The attackers might promise to supply you with a decryptor as soon as you pay the ransom fee they desire, but we assure you that doing this is a risky approach since you may lose both your files and your money easily.
