qbx Ransomware

Having your files locked by ransomware is guaranteed to be an unpleasant experience if you have become the target of a file-encryption Trojan that is impossible to decrypt for free especially. This is the faith that victims of the qbx Ransomware are likely to face – this file-locker is based on the Dharma Ransomware project, and it is impossible to undo the damage it does unless you own a backup copy of your files. Currently, there is no free way to decrypt the files locked by the qbx Ransomware, and the only people able to do this are the authors of the file-locker.

This threat might be spread via fraudulent email attachments that may be accompanied by a message that is disguised to look as if it comes from a reputable source cleverly. If the users fall for this trick and launch the qbx Ransomware on their computers, they may soon end up using a large portion of their files – this ransomware encrypts documents, spreadsheets, videos, archives, images, and many other popular file types. Just like other variants of the Dharma Ransomware, this one also uses a specific naming scheme to modify the names of the locked files – .id-.[btcdecoding@qq.com].qbx. The ransom note also is delivered during the final stage of the attack, and victims will usually find it in ‘RETURN FILES.txt.’

Naturally, the perpetrators want to receive a ransom payment in exchange for their assistance, but we assure you that you should not consider sending them anything. Not only they are likely to use the money for future malware projects, but there is also no way you can be sure that they will help you recover your files.

The correct way to deal with ransomware is to use an anti-malware application to eradicate the threatening software, and then look into alternative data recovery options. The only assured way to undo the damage caused by the qbx Ransomware is to restore your files from a recent backup – if this is not a viable option for you, then you should turn to professional data recovery software.
