ScreenshotThe rogue anti-malware program Security Essentials 2010 is installed through Trojan infections that pretend to be video updates. Like most rogue anti-malware applications, Security Essentials 2010 steals the appearance of a true anti-malware program for a cover while Security Essentials 2010 attacks your security and delivers false system warning messages as part of a fraudulent payment scam. Removing Security Essentials 2010 should be done hastily since side effects can include serious security risks like disabled system applications and anti-virus scanners.

Security Essentials 2010 is Not the Update You Were Looking For

Security Essentials 2010's true nature as a threat will be obvious to most users, since Security Essentials 2010 will appear soon after interacting with a fake codec or other video update. The threatening nature of Security Essentials 2010's many errors and alerts may take you by surprise if you're not ready for them and fully aware that they're not related to your computer's condition.

Typical Security Essentials 2010 errors include:

ERROR
Application Error. The instruction at 0x009a6f9a referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written.Click on OK to terminate the program.

System warning!
Continue working in unprotected mode is very dangerous. Viruses can damage your confidential data and work on your computer. Click here to protect your computer.

Security Warning!
Worm.Win32.NetSky detected on your machine.
This virus is distributed via the Internet through e-mail and Active-x objects.
The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers e-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself.
In worst cases this worm can allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data.
Viruses can damage your confidential data and work on your computer.
Continue working in unprotected mode is very dangerous.

Critical Warning!
Critical System Warning! Your system is probably infected with a version of Trojan-Spy.HTML.Visafraud.a. This may result in website access passwords being stolen from Interner Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Outlook etc. Click Yes to scan and remove threats. (recommended)

Savvy PC owners will not be taken off-guard by the extreme nature of these meaningless errors, since Security Essentials 2010 and similar rogue security programs deliver these alerts automatically and without attempting to look for infections or other issues.

The primary danger in these fake errors lies in their potential to contain links for Security Essentials 2010's malicious websites. These sites can download other malware onto your PC without your consent and may attempt to procure personal information like your credit card number.

The 'Essential' Nature of Removing Security Essentials 2010

The only security you can acquire from this rogue anti-malware program is by removing Security Essentials 2010 right away, although this can be difficult. Security Essentials 2010 will block many different applications from running, including various Windows tools and popular versions of anti-malware programs.

Resorting to a reboot into Safe Mode may let you stop Security Essentials 2010 from running, which will let you access your other programs without any further hindrances. If you have difficulty removing or detecting Security Essentials 2010, check to be sure your scanners are completely updated for the latest threats. Security Essentials 2010 copies most of its code from other known PC threats like Antivirus Live, Internet Security 2010 and Advanced Virus Remover. However, Security Essentials 2010 remains different enough that being able to detect one is not a surefire sign of being able to detect all possible variations of the Security Essentials 2010 infection.

  • June Violet says:

Not being experienced, I made a horrible error. I subscribed to \"Security Essentials, then downloaded Spyware 2010.
I was shocked after reading your web page and you appeared to approve of it. But that web page \"Remove both of the above instantly\" which has me so scared. I went to Control Panel, but could not find my list of change/remove!
I have a bad habit of naivety and get myself in trouble all the time! I saw several listings on how to remove these two issues, but I get upset because I do not have the knowledge of which listing to select.
I hope you can help me get rid of these errors. Thank you.

The 1st step is to access the task manager, but I am blocked from the task manager. Can someone please tell me how to get to my task manager without hitting ALT/CNTL/DELETE.

  • Barb says:

If I can't do step one because I can't access the task manager, is it OK to remove the other files out of sequence?

  • Marlin says:

Worked absolutely flawlessly and fast. Had the Security essentials found a trojan virus which shut down my apps on loading. Ran it from a flash drive and cleaned a slew of ugly stuff. Malware program and rkill could not evade the trojan but the randomly generated program was very fast and evaded the trojan. Excellent work!
