Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Spyware.SCN-ToolBar can be classified as adware, spyware and a browser hijacker due to its variety of web browser-oriented attacks. Spyware.SCN-ToolBar is very widely distributed and has been detected as one of the most prolific PC threats with respect to home networks, along with other toolbar-based PC threats that are likely to be distributed with freeware programs (such as movie players, file-downloading clients and other media-oriented utilities). Symptoms associated with Spyware.SCN-ToolBar infections include browser redirects to unusual sites and unwanted advertisements, although Spyware.SCN-ToolBar also includes other functions with less obvious symptoms than these. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend removing Spyware.SCN-ToolBar from your PC with anti-malware software that's capable of handling PC threats of Spyware.SCN-ToolBar's level – especially since Spyware.SCN-ToolBar, unlike most forms of adware, is classified as a mid to high-level security risk.
Spyware.SCN-ToolBar – Why Being Number Two in Adware Isn't So Bad
Spyware.SCN-ToolBar was rated the second most prolific PC threat for nonbusiness/government networks in April and June of 2012, just below the MyWebSearch Toolbar. Standard propagation methods for PC threats similar to Spyware.SCN-ToolBar is utilized in bundled install methods wherein a separate (usually freeware) program includes Spyware.SCN-ToolBar or another type of PUP toolbar as either an optional or mandatory service. Careful inspection of installation routines may give you a way to install the original program without installing Spyware.SCN-ToolBar, although SpywareRemove.com malware experts recommend that you try to use software with a clean history of not being associated with Spyware.SCN-ToolBar and other adware.
A Spyware.SCN-ToolBar infection should be readily visible due to its habit of changing error pages and default search engines for Internet Explorer. Spyware.SCN-ToolBar may also display advertisements without your consent via such means as pop-ups, redirects, altered search results or even link-embedding tactics that highlight keywords with links. Other web browsers haven't been confirmed to be affected by Spyware.SCN-ToolBar's attacks, although they have been known to be affected by similar PC threats.
The Problems with Spyware.SCN-ToolBar That You Might Not See
SpywareRemove.com malware research team has also noted that Spyware.SCN-ToolBar includes two other features that, while less obvious than the above examples, are even worse security risks for your PC:
- Spyware.SCN-ToolBar will update itself without your consent. While this trait is common for PUPs and adware, Spyware.SCN-ToolBar can be used to broaden Spyware.SCN-ToolBar's features and add even more dangerous attacks to its capabilities. There are no notifications when Spyware.SCN-ToolBar performs an update.
- Spyware.SCN-ToolBar can gather information about your web-browsing habits without your consent. Besides being a needless resource hog, this invasive function is also a significant security breach and gives Spyware.SCN-ToolBar its classification as spyware.
Removing Spyware.SCN-ToolBar by the normal means of deleting browser toolbars may be ineffectual at deleting all of Spyware.SCN-ToolBar's components – particularly its spyware features. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers, therefore, recommend deleting Spyware.SCN-ToolBar with the same anti-malware programs that you'd use against all types of spyware.
