Teamo Ransomware

Posted: November 8, 2017

Pushing the goal for hackers to pounce on gullible computer users is a threat dubbed Teamo Ransomware, which is part of the growing family of Hidden Tear malware. Such malware is known for encrypting files on a PC using aggressive methods to then extort money from its victims through a supposed promise to restore the files after paying the demanded ransom.

In the case of Teamo Ransomware it uses the file extension .teamo to tag each file that it encrypts upon infecting a Windows PC. The actions of Teamo Ransomware will then demand a Bitcoin payment that may amount to hundreds of dollars, which many victimized PC users will not be able to pay.

The steps involved in resolving the issue of Teamo Ransomware start with removal of the threat, which can be done successfully using an antispyware program. After removal of Teamo Ransomware, victimized PC users may then restore the files encrypted by the malware using a backup of their computer's hard drive.
