Uroboros is classified as a rootkit because it is designed to work at the kernel level. Uroboros inserts itself deep inside Windows. Uroboros virus steals files and transmits them back to its creators. It hides by embedding itself in application processes normally running in Windows. Opening the browser makes it possible for Uroboros to communicate and receive instructions.
Uroboros rootkit targets highly secured systems by replicating itself via the network. Uroboros is used to compromise government agencies and companies, not individuals. Prevention methods include anti-phishing training, avoid plugging in USBs and use high-quality security software.
