‘You Might Enjoy Reading’ Pop-Up

Posted: March 19, 2014

The 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up is a symptom of adware that advertises for news and media entertainment websites. At this time, malware researchers haven't confirmed any cases of a 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up being exploited to expose the affected browser to hazardous websites, but adware always is a potential security risk, and more often than not is detrimental to your Web-browsing performance. Considering that the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up doesn't offer any positive features worth putting up with these drawbacks, deleting any adware program responsible for the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up by the use of appropriate PC security tools simply is common sense.

When Your Reading Choices are Picked for You

The 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up is a pop-up window embedded in your normal Web-browsing window, rather than an external window displayed on top of it. This display format may cause browser problems with respect to accessing content; for example, you may find it impossible to read content on the lower side of a Web page. However, this only is an issue because adware associated with the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up fails to allow you to disable this pop-up through appropriate advertisement-management settings.

Once the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up is loaded into your browser automatically, the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up 'recommends' additional articles for your reading pleasure, and while doing so, promotes sites like Inquisitr.com and Youjoomla.com. These sites haven't been categorized as threatening, but malware researchers see no advantages to allowing the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up to promote additional news sites, particularly in this specific format. Other, equally immediate concerns for adware programs responsible for a 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up include the potential for them to update their functions automatically, use cookies to track your online activities or harm your Web browser's overall quality of performance.

Closing the Book on the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' Pop-Up

Although the users using adware causing the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up are welcome to make their own judgments on the viability of keeping an article-recommending advertiser permanently installed, malware researchers are in the habit of recommending the ejection of such software. The fact that the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up-associated adware also has a history of being unusually troublesome to uninstall only highlights the importance of controlling which add-ons are active for your favorite Web browser. To guarantee your browser and your PC's long term security, anti-adware scanning solutions should be considered in preference over any manual methods of removing the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up and its adware.

Even when sites promoted by them aren't threatening, adware programs may cause security issues, simply due to how their advertisements are structured. After deleting the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up adware, you also may wish to consider checking all relevant browsing settings to be certain that they've been returned to their standard values. Under another perspective, if you're scanning suspicious files before opening them, your security software should catch the sources of the 'You Might Enjoy Reading' pop-up before the actual pop-up ever can come into play.
